A Comic Book Weekend & Animal Protection

SATURDAY was Free Comic Book Day up the street at West End Comics

I thought there might be something of interest for my blog pal, The Vintage Toy Advertiser.

The shop was jam packed. However, the oldest comic books were in the window display & not for give away. So, that’s what I took pics of.

A 12 cent comic book!

SUNDAY – I walked a mile to a mechanics garage. Passing on the bus, I had noticed some fresh art on the walls.  Also,  instead of the price of a lube job on his marquee, there was something about animals. I wanted to see what it was.

OMG! One of the new pieces was a tribute to Stan Lee

There was also a 1940’s style Cat Woman,

… and a Poison Ivy! This really was a comic weekend!

Totally smitten by Poison Ivy, and that she was blocked by a car, I had to shoot from 2 vantage points. The light was different each way, and I love how it effected her red hair.

Then I checked out the sign, and took some pics.

When I got home I checked out  Bill C-84 It is an animal protection bill dealing with beastiality & animal gaming (cock fights, dog fights, etc). Yet, more disgusting things about some humans.

There are many dogs & animals painted on Charlies property.

The animals, Cat Woman and Poison Ivy murals are wonderful. You got great pics despite the car. I’ve never been a huge comic book fan, but I do like the comic book series TinTin, Lucky Luc, Astérix and Lupo Alberto. I read the comic strips in Sunday’s paper. I like to see old version of comic strips to see how they evolved over time.

    1. I used to read those Classic Comics, then I switched to Archie..LOL..
I did like the Sunday Comics in the paper. I haven’t seen them for at least 10 years, since I cancelled my newspaper subscription. I should buy a paper this weekend, and check them out!

There are several comics in the Sunday’s Funnies I don’t like. But there’s enough good ones to get a good laugh or two.

  2. Yay, you went 🙂 Love the shots of the shop window – some cool covers there, and I spotted a ThunderCats issue buried under the other goodies. Thanks for thinking of me! Plus… you found some comic book related wall art too! Absolutely brilliant :)x

    1. Yeah! It sure was a boom day for the shop!
Okay… I’ve looked and looked for the Thundercats. Is it under Turok, Son Of Stone?
Finding the comics wall art was a real bonus. It brought the weekend nicely together! 😀 x

  3. The tribute to stan lee is beautiful. 🙂

I too, also went to Free Comic Book Day.

I bought me the following. Black Widow comic which was 4 bucks, Spawn #1 was free and Avengers #1 25 cents, & Spider-man #1 25 cents.

I have ton of Marvel & DC comics.

Are you a collector of superhero comics?

Did you get to see ‘Avengers: Endgame’ in theaters? if so, what did you think?

I guess by now you already know I’m a geek in superhero comics. 🙂

    1. I didn’t know you were a superhero comic geek before, but I do now! 😀
I enjoyed Free Comic Book Day, and I do pop into the shop time to time, but it is to buy things for my friends who are like you. I don’t collect for myself. I have enough stuff I’ve collected! There’s Art Gowns hanging all over the place. There’s books galore, and tons of neat things from working in the movies.
I’m trying to figure out how to sell some of this stuff off. I need more room for my Art Gowns & Art Gowns Art! Big Hug!

        1. I saw the comment on Art Gowns. I’ll be over there later! It’s a different log-in. 😀
Thank you for the compliment, dear Charlie.

I like Cat Woman & Poison Ivy & Harley Quinn, although the latter 2 are super villains! LOL!
I’m going to try to draw “Poison Holly” an idea I got from the Poison Ivy character. I’ll be using Holly the poet as my model.

          1. You are welcome, Resa. 🙂

I probably should have been more specific on what side of superheroes.

Question again: What Marvel superhero is your favorite?

And as for DC? I got the answer. 🙂

I love Harley Quinn as well. She’s awesome! 🙂

    1. Thanks, Christy! It was a lucky find. There was a car parked very close. I just managed to squeak in the shot! xo

  4. Fabulous post. I love it and the fact that the dogs are everywhere. Great fun and applause. I like Poison Ivy . She’s fabulous. So is Cat Woman and Harley Quinn.

  5. Oh wow I LOVE this!
I’m such a comic book fan (translation: nerd)
Poison Ivy….loved that; it was so gorgeous.
Kind of heart her and her crazy brand of sexy lol.

Lovely to see a post from you as always ♥

    1. I adore Poison Ivy, too! I also like Harley Quinn. ❤
I like nerds! I don't read comics anymore… but I collect street art! LOL!

      1. Harley Quinn…hands down my favourite female villain. Though I think she’s just misunderstood??! 😂
Nerds make the world go happily and nerdily around baby!
        💋💋

    1. I hope you weren’t looking at the dogs while the cats were around. I don’t want to get a bad name in Graz! Bark, bark… and I don’t mean like on trees! ❤ Love to all! xoxoxo
