Winnipeg’s MURAL OF THE YEAR 2014

This mural tracks communications from the dial phone until today.

Pay phones are almost vanished from our city-scapes.

421 Burrows Avenue
I ‘m in luv with the purple tree.

The building, which shows the mural on 2 sides, has an architectural zig-zag. Here’s side 1.

They are fantastic those pieces of art ❤ 🙂
I really like them! I feel so lucky to have been able to photograph this mural! 🙂 ❤
I always look with regrets on the poor graffiti in Denmark. I wish they could raise the level to Toronto scale 🙂 ❤
Lovely work Resa and the mural is too 😉 xoxoxo Ralph ❤
Aww, thanks, Ralph! You sure know how to make a girl smile!!!! xoxoxo ❤
It’s fascinating to look at, as it’s a graphical explanation of worldwide communications, it even has a satellite!
Yes, it is fascinating & I do like the satellite! Lol! What will Winnipeg come up with for next year?
How do they judge these?
A special panel of artists & community activists is put together each year. Each year the panel is different.
It also seems to go around building, so the interaction with the theme must be a very engrossing experience.
It is quite wonderful!
Winnipeg prides itself for its murals! This is a city where winter temperatures are -40 C more often than not, so they enjoy every wonderful, warming thing they can.
I would say a trip to Winnipeg, in the summer, would be worth the experience.
This is largely because of the murals.
Of course, seeing the prairies is second to nothing. Wow! Open, unfettered space like this is a real eye opener in today’s crowded world.
So you are close to Winnipeg?
It is a 2 hour plane ride from Toronto.
It is 2 seconds away in my heart.
So you live in Toronto then!
Yes, Toronto!
I admire your country very much Resa. 🇨🇦
❤
❤
I admire my country too 🇵🇷, but many Puerto Ricans are so dissapointed with being a commonwealth of the U.S., but someday, Puerto Rico will become independent! I hope!
Puerto Rico is amazing! I was there once. You are lucky to live there!
I know! It has not become a state because we do not allow it; yet technically we are a colony. It’s beyond me really. But I’m proud to raise my flag too!
Hey, you have a flag! That means a lot!
Too much nationalism is what causes wars and what not!
Sometimes, however, I like to think that I can transcend nationalism, and think that planet Earth is one big community; countries, race, religions are just factions which divide people even more… So I like to think that way also…I don’t know whether too much nationalism is too healthy either, so politically wise I demand respect, but I’m also very open to transcending cultural differences. 🇵🇷🇨🇦🇺🇸

This is a great mural – takes me right back to the days of operators and black desk phones! Beautiful works of art!
It deserves “Mural of the Year”! I’s hard to believe how far we’ve come from the dial phone!
Absolutey stunning!!!!… This one deserves an outstanding ovation!. Love! Aquileana ⭐
Note be careful with the display of replies such as shown above… I.e You´ll need to post those replies as new comments to avoid the narrow thing!
